ULTRAMARATHONER, COACH, SKECHERS AMBASSADOR
We see you’ve been busy with your running clinics and hosting jobs.
Early this year, I was already on a tight schedule, conducting running lectures and demos everywhere. I also got booked for a couple of motivational talks and hosting jobs for weekend races.
I have dedicated much of my time too in conducting “Running Essentials”—a program based on the principles responsible for my success as a runner. Working together with Skechers Philippines, I have envisioned the idea to pursue my advocacy of sharing experiences, knowledge, and the love for running. “Running Essentials” has kept me busy with a scheduled mall tour and provincial visits.
Most of my mornings and evenings are dedicated to coaching triathletes and running teams in Ultra. And the other mornings/evenings of the week, I devote to teaching indoor cycling and body combat in several branches of Fitness First.
Wow! And between coaching and running clinics, we know you still do so much more, right?
Between coaching and running clinics, I perform my duties as a professor at DLSU–Taft under the Counseling and Educational Psychology Department. Every Wednesday, I spend the rest of the afternoon as the fitness/health resource person for 99.5 RT Fit Radio (3-6pm).
On top of everything, I have just returned to serious training, and hopefully regain my old, competitive shape. I miss joining races and competing. Now, I have finally learned how to manage my time and squeeze in some swim/ run trainings, and a couple of strengthening workouts all throughout the week.
You’re not just an ultramarathoner, you’re also an ultrawoman! So what motivates you to live an active and fit lifestyle?
I have always been into sports and fitness. Without it, I feel there’s something missing in me, and life will never ever be the same. Being fit and active creates the “holistic individual” that I always yearn to be. I make it a point to start my day—and end my day as well, if given the chance—with a good sweat. Aside from looking good from the outside, I look forward to the incomparable, inner feeling—the positive energy that keeps flowing all throughout the day. It’s amazing how a fit and active lifestyle brings you a step closer to anything, including your goals and dreams.
