Aside from training and racing, what else is keeping your hands full?

Handling the occasional run clinics and running my website—3isgreaterthan1.com—that I put up together with two other top Pinay triathletes (and my good friends), LC Langit and Kim Mangrobang. We’re all about inspiring everyday people to find their inner athletes.

Speaking of which, what inspires you to live an active and fit lifestyle?

I’ve always been very active since I was young. I just like to move! There’s nothing like finishing a workout that would have been impossible to me just a few years back... The realization that you can train your body to do most anything is just amazing.

How did you get started in triathlon?

I was a member of the Dragon Boat Team at the University of the Philippines-Diliman. Part of the training was running, and I had a lot of friends who were into multisports—adventure racing, mountain biking, etc. At first, I thought triathlon was totally hardcore, but I realized that if all those people could do it, so could I.

What other sports have you dabbled into?

I’ve tried karate, tennis, wall climbing, volleyball, football, softball, dragon boat racing. I’ve even done ballet. I’ve never tried boxing, though. I’m a huge Manny Pacquiao fan. Boxing would be really fun!
