TIRED OF RUNNING? IS THE SWELTERING HEAT GETTING TO YOU? Well, then it’s the perfect time to change up your routine and hit the water! According to experts, swimming laps burns around the same amount of calories as running, but with much less impact on the bones, muscles, and weight-bearing joints. The great news? You don’t have to be swimming the butterfly for hours to reap results.

So, what is it about water that makes it such a great place to work out?

BUOYANCY. Water reduces your body weight by around 90 percent, making you float. You’d think this was cheating, but buoyancy isn’t the only force at play here.
