Five thousand people run for their lives at Outbreak Manila

April 14, 2012, Sta. Rosa, Laguna- Last April 14, Outbreak Manila unleashed the living dead to 5,000 runners in a 5-kilometer obstacle trail run in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Newbies and seasoned runners fueled their adrenaline with sprints and screams as they outmaneuvered hoards of zombies. Outbreak Manila boasted a players’ bench of 200 zombies who were all dead-set on grabbing red health flags attached to the runners’ belts.

The object of the game is simple. First, run for your life. And then second, get to the finish line the fastest with at least one flag intact.

For maximum thrill, Outbreak Manila offered 25 waves with 200 runners each. The first forty runners of each wave received a medal, and at the end, Outbreak Manila awarded the top three male and female runners. Special awards were also handed to the best-dressed survivors and zombies.

For those who missed the Outbreak, event organizer Re-Create Events forecasts widespread infection this 2012. “The next Outbreak has been set, and we all look forward to chasing you there”, says Angelo Cruz of Re-Create Events.
